The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has opened the current session's returns on the Abia State Basic and Secondary Education Management Information System (ASBS-EMIS). The requirement covers every basic and secondary school in the State, public and private alike.
Each school is asked to confirm its enrolment by class and sex, its teaching and non-teaching establishment, and the condition of its classrooms, furniture and water and sanitation facilities. Learners are recorded against their Abia State Learners Identification Number (ASLIN) and teachers against their Abia State Teachers Identification Number (ASTIN).
Head teachers and principals who have not yet received their school's ASSIN code should contact their zonal education office. A school that does not appear on ASBS-EMIS cannot be considered in the allocation of teachers, furniture or infrastructure intervention, so the return is not optional.
