The Abia State Basic and Secondary Education Management Information System (ASBS-EMIS) is a web-based platform holding a comprehensive database of all basic and secondary schools in Abia State, public and private, together with the overall management and storage of educational data in the State. It gives the Ministry the data it needs to monitor and manage the education sector effectively.
Abia State Learners Identification Number (ASLIN)
ASLIN is a unique identifier assigned to every child in Abia State, whether enrolled in a public or a private school. It allows the Ministry to follow a learner's academic journey from pre-school through senior secondary school, so that individual learning needs are understood and outcomes improve across the board.
Abia State Teachers Identification Number (ASTIN)
ASTIN is a unique identifier for every teacher in Abia State, in public and private schools alike. Every child in the State deserves quality teaching, so every teacher should have access to the same training and professional development.
Abia State Schools Identification Number (ASSIN)
ASSIN is a unique code assigned to every school in Abia State. It enables accurate data collection, informed policy decisions and targeted intervention in infrastructure, staffing and enrolment. It also underpins the Ministry's support to emerging private schools, so that with proper assistance and oversight they can become fully licensed institutions rather than shanty schools.
Schools are ranked using key performance metrics. The ranking exists to inspire rather than to punish: the intention is to lift teaching quality, infrastructure and administration over time, and to create safer, more effective learning environments for every child in the State.
